If pregnancy or early parenthood left you more overwhelmed than you expected, and you're autistic, have ADHD, or have quietly wondered whether you might be neurodivergent, there's something I want you to know.

It wasn't you. It was a system that was never built with your brain in mind.

There's a particular kind of stillness that comes with being nap trapped. Baby finally asleep on your chest, your phone just out of reach, your to-do list growing longer by the minute, and somewhere in the back of your mind a quiet voice asking whether you're doing this right.

Most mums know that feeling well. And most mums have been told, at some point, that letting their baby sleep on them is creating a habit they'll regret. That they're making a rod for their own back. That they should be encouraging more independence.

I don’t know about you, but every year there’s a moment where the festive season suddenly shifts. One minute it feels light and fun, and the next you’re looking at your calendar wondering how you’re meant to keep up. The plans, the gatherings, the family expectations, the noise. It piles up quickly.

And if you’re a pregnant mama or a new mum, that shift hits even harder. Your body is tired. Your emotions sit closer to the surface. Your capacity feels completely different to what it used to be. Suddenly a season that is meant to feel joyful can feel crowded and overwhelming.
